Mount Jackson’s potato festival is exactly as silly as it sounds — a Couch Potato 1-Miler, a tater catapult, cow-pie bingo — and free to attend at Lions Park. It’s built for families with young kids more than anyone chasing serious festival food or craft vendors, though there’s some of both.

It’s a small-town event without a big parking lot, so expect to walk a block or two from wherever you find a spot on a busy year.
