Virginia Quilt Museum

Virginia’s official quilt museum, now inside a restored 19th-century mill in Dayton.

The Virginia Quilt Museum moved into the restored Silver Lake Mill in Dayton, and its rotating exhibits of heirloom, contemporary and art quilts include, through the end of 2026, a 250-quilt exhibit commemorating the Commonwealth. There’s no equivalent museum anywhere closer to Luray.

It’s about 50 minutes from Luray, close enough to pair with Harrisonburg-area stops (Shenandoah Heritage Market, Pale Fire Brewing) into one day. Open Tuesday through Saturday; closed Sunday and Monday, and confirmed closed Nov 25–27, 2026 for Thanksgiving.
