Strickler Knob is a 5.4-mile round trip with about 1,056 feet of elevation gain, reached from Scothorn Gap off Crisman Hollow Road, free to hike. The final approach is a genuine pink-blazed scramble including a roughly 12-foot rock wall — harder than Bearfence Mountain, and a route people commonly underestimate going in.
In practice, this is not a trail to bring a dog on — the scramble sections aren’t realistic for most dogs to navigate safely, even for owners willing to carry gear on other hikes.
