Jordan Hollow Stables offers guided trail rides at a walking pace, always — no trotting or cantering, on any ride. It’s the closest real trail-riding operation to Luray. Reservations are required; there are no walk-ins. The minimum age is 7, and riders must be under 220 lbs. Rides run seasonally, March through November.

This is a genuinely beginner-friendly ride precisely because the pace never changes — a good fit for a first-time rider, and a letdown if you’re hoping to actually ride rather than walk a horse along a trail. Group rides and private rides (minimum 4 riders) are both offered; call ahead for current pricing, which is set by the stable and can change.
