Fall Foliage Wagon Ride at Shenandoah River State Park

Shenandoah River State Park runs ranger- or volunteer-led fall foliage rides on an open-air hay wagon on Saturdays and Sundays from Oct 3 through Oct 25. The ride covers about 5 miles of paved and gravel roads with mountain views, and guides help riders identify trees in their fall color. Hot cider is provided by the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park. Rides leave from the River Bend Discovery Center.

Each ride has 11 seats. Pre-registration is required and opens 5 days before each ride, and you must pay in advance to hold a spot (call 540-622-2262). The program costs $5 per person, and the standard park parking fee applies. Children are welcome. No pets. The wagon has a short ramp but is not ADA accessible, and the ride is not recommended for people with mobility challenges.
