Town of Shenandoah Museum & Welcome Center

A free town museum and welcome center beside a working Norfolk Southern railyard — train history and town history in one free stop.

The Town of Shenandoah Museum & Welcome Center is a free museum covering N&W railroad history, the town’s own history, and the USS Shenandoah, housed in the town’s welcome center. It sits beside a genuinely working Norfolk Southern railyard — the yard is adjacent to the museum, not part of it, but train-interested kids get a real, active railyard to watch along with the museum’s collection.

Open Monday through Saturday, 10am–5pm, with a midday closure from noon to 1pm — plan around that break rather than showing up right at lunchtime. Free admission.
